This mall was originally built in 1961 as an outdoor shopping center. It was later enclosed and would be one of the first modern malls on the west coast.

When I moved here in 2009 the inside the mall is a shadow of it's former self, but growth began to happen when Whole Foods Market opened on the west side, followed by Target. I would consider Coddingtown Mall saved from the explosion of pop-up and temporary stores that have invaded this once bustling shopping destination. Still if I could, I would time travel back to the opening day and get lost in the excitment of a new concept; the shopping mall.
